About TechDetect
TechDetect is an App that helps you to find your lost or stolen mobile by remotely viewing its location and activating its alarm, flashlight and camera.

From the website, simply visit Get App and click on the link to download the App from Google Play.
Search for TechDetect on Google Play and select install.
Once the App is installed, open the App and log in using the username and password that has been supplied to you. To synchronize the mobile with the web interface you will need to click here to log in now. From here you will be able to manage your mobile security features.

Log in with the username and password that was sent to you in the welcome email and SMS.
After logging into the web interface you will be able to see where your mobile is in the location section of your dashboard.
After logging in on the web interface select the button “Start Alarm”. This will trigger an Alarm notification on your mobile.

After logging in on the web interface select the button “Start Flashlight”. This will trigger the flashlight on your mobile.

After logging in on the web interface select the button “Message”. A popup will appear allowing you to write the message that you would like to send to your mobile. This message will appear as a notification on the mobile.

After logging in on the web interface select the button “Remote Call”. A popup will appear. In the “Number to Dial” field, enter another number (not the number of your lost mobile) and your lost mobile will call it. You can then listen to the surroundings of your lost mobile. (Your lost mobile must have airtime in order to make this call.)
After logging in on the web interface select the buttons “Start Camera Front” or “Start Camera Rear” to take photos from the front or rear cameras of your lost mobile. You can view these in the gallery on the web interface.
To change your password on the TechDetect App, select Profile from the menu options. Type your selected password into the password field and click Update.
Web Portal
The TechDetect web portal is a website you can log in to and control your mobile’s features remotely, if it is lost or stolen. You can log into it from any mobile with an internet connection.
To log into the web portal, visit www.techdetect.co.za click on the Login button, and fill in your details. Click here to log in now. To log out click on the log out button on the top right-hand corner.
After logging into the web portal, you will land on your Dashboard. Your Dashboard will give you a view of the following:
Current mobile:
This shows the mobile that is currently in use.
To change your mobile, click on the dropdown and select the mobile that you would like to manage.
Actions:
This is where you will be able to activate the security features.
Location:
You can view your last location on the map.
Tracking:
A breakdown of data that is logged for the location of the mobile.
General Questions
The App needs a data connection to work, which can come from WiFi or a SIM. If the mobile is switched off, you will only be able to view its last location before being switched off.
The alarm uses the notification volume and does not get louder. Your mobile will receive 5 notifications when this feature is triggered.
TechDetect is a month to month service and can be cancelled at any time. To do so please contact support@techdetect.co.za or 086 100 0459.
You can receive a refund except where a special offer was part of the subscription, where the refund amount is less than R50 or for subscriptions paid prior to the cancellation date. Cancellations take immediate effect.
